The clean-up at CPA Australia

In 2017 a member led rebellion, frustrated with the amount of money being spent on their superstar CEO, led to massive changes at CPA Australia.

The Australian Financial Review reported in 2017 that the former CEO, Alex Malley, had over $1.8 million in expenses paid to help cover the costs and promotion of his books "The Naked CEO". Malley was then paid an additional $4.9 million termination payout. The payout was in addition to his already substantial salary.

The Australian Financial Review has since reported that Brett Stevenson, a central figure to the rebellion, has subsequently resigned from CPA Australia as he says changes to improve the organisation and its culture are not happening quickly enough.
